Your care. Your space.

Effective October 25, 2026 · Version 1.0

Medicine Notes is developed by Ivan Kramarchuk. This policy describes version 1.0 for iPhone and iPad. Your medicine journal is stored on your device. The developer does not receive your journal, scan images, or AI prompts.

What stays on your device

The app stores medicine names, strengths, descriptions, instructions, schedules, intake times, notes, supply changes, label photos, recognized text and bundle shortcuts in its local database. It stores app lock and reminder preferences in local settings. This data supports the features you use; it is not sent to a developer server.

No ads, tracking, or developer analytics

The app contains no advertising, tracking SDK, third-party analytics SDK, or third-party crash-reporting SDK. We do not sell or rent your journal, build advertising profiles from it, or use it to train our models. Local stock calculations, text recognition and optional AI are app features, not developer analytics. Apple may process App Store and system diagnostics under your Apple settings and its own policies.

Local storage and backup

This version does not sync your journal to a cloud service or use an app account. The database directory, including stored label photos and database sidecar files, is excluded from automatic device backup. Keep your own private JSON export before replacing or erasing your device. App lock uses Apple authentication; the app does not receive Face ID templates or your passcode. No software or device protection can guarantee absolute security.

Camera and photos

Camera access is requested only when you choose to take a label photo. The system photo picker lets you choose individual images without giving the app access to your whole library. Apple Vision reads text on your device. Stored photos are resized and re-encoded, which removes the source image metadata. The app does not upload photos to an OCR service. You can use the app without camera access.

Apple Intelligence on your device

On supported devices with Apple Intelligence enabled, the app uses Apple’s Foundation Models on-device model. Label-name extraction processes recognized label text. A short description uses the medicine name and strength. These requests do not use a remote AI service or Private Cloud Compute. The developer does not receive prompts or output. Apple may need to download system models. If the model is unavailable, label scanning uses a local parser and descriptions remain manual. AI can make mistakes; review every suggestion.

Optional MedlinePlus searches

Only after you choose Search does the app send the text shown in the search field to connect.medlineplus.gov over HTTPS. It does not attach your intake history, strength field, dose, notes or photos. Do not put personal details in this field. NLM receives your IP address and technical request details. Its published policy describes search words, browser and operating system details, and approximate location in web logs. NLM says it does not use this information to associate search terms with individual users. Results are cached only in app memory for up to 12 hours. Closing and reopening the app clears that cache.

External websites

A guide opens the original MedlinePlus page in Apple’s Safari view. External pages can use cookies, web measurement, and links to other sites. Their providers control those practices; the app cannot delete their logs or cookies. You can use the journal without searching or opening a website. Review the NLM policy before using its services.

Notifications and logs

Reminders are scheduled locally with Apple’s notification service. Private notification content is on by default; you can change it in Settings. If you reveal names, other people may see medicine details on your screen. Diagnostic logs record operation stages, error codes, and record counts. App code does not intentionally write medicine names, photos, OCR text, AI prompts, or journal notes into public logs. Some system errors may include private details. Do not share a diagnostic export without reviewing it.

Exports are separate copies

A JSON export is not encrypted and includes medicines, the full journal (including entries marked removed), supply history, label photos and bundles. The location or service you choose controls that copy. An export saved to iCloud Drive or another cloud provider is a transfer you choose, not automatic app sync. Protect the file and delete any copies you no longer need. Import reads only the backup file you select.

Retention and deletion

Your local records remain until you remove them. Archive hides a medicine without deleting its history. Removing a journal entry marks it removed for backup reconciliation; it can remain in exports. Delete permanently in a medicine’s details removes that medicine and its related journal, supply and photo records. Settings > Erase all local journal data removes all database records, including removed entries and bundle shortcuts, and clears app reminders. Delete the app (not Offload App) to remove its local container. These actions do not erase exported files, device backups made earlier, external website logs, or copies created by older cloud-enabled builds. This version does not contact or erase an older cloud container. Manage any old copies separately in Apple settings. Erasure is an app-level deletion, not a promise of forensic media overwriting.

Support and this website

This product website serves its assets from the same site and uses no analytics, advertising, or contact form. An email link opens your mail app; it sends nothing automatically. If you choose to contact the developer, your email and the information you provide are used to answer your request. Please do not send prescriptions, label photos, medical histories, or journal backups.

Your choices and rights

No registration is required. You can skip scans, AI suggestions, external searches, and support contact. You can change camera, notification, Apple Intelligence, and authentication settings in Apple settings. You can view, correct, export, or erase local data in the app. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to personal information you provide to support, and to complain to your local privacy authority. Contact support for requests about information we actually receive. We cannot retrieve a local journal that you have not sent to us.

Children and policy changes

Medicine Notes is a general personal record tool, not a service directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through support. A parent or guardian can contact support about information a child sent. The policy will be updated when the app’s practices change. The date on this page identifies the current version.
